CHILDREN’S QUESTIONS TO A BURN SURVIVOR (PART 4)

Hi, you are “face to face with Shell”.

I’m going to tell you another little “cute” story that I am sure I have spoken about before but it fits in with this series of “children’s questions”.

Please watch the video below:

So, here is an example of where the child hadn’t even noticed my scars  He was quite young and had known me all his life and to him, there was no difference.

Children can be very accepting and this certainly is an example of that.  To him, he never seen my scars; to him, I was “just Michelle”.

However, a small explanation was needed to the child, as a situation had arose, one where we couldn’t do something (go swimming) and this was the reason for the explanation.

The parent done a great job, as she simply said that I had had a small operation to make my scars look better.  This was explained age appropriately to the child and was accepted, with no more questions.

Again, I am going to say that you don’t always have to tell a child fully what has happened, especially a young child.
