Hi, you are “face to face with Shell”.
After being severly burned in a gas explosion in Spain many years ago, I was left with all different colours of skin tones, especially on my face. I had researched the subject and I had found out that a “safe sun tan” could help these uneven tones. I checked with my Consultant and he agreed that I could give it a go, as long as I was very careful, and that I used a high SPF.
Below is a short video regarding a “safe sun tan” and how the sun has helped to even out my skin tones; please watch and read on for more information:
My husband, Chris and I first went travelling for two and a half years around Europe in 2015; we have since came out backpacking again (2018) for a short time. I found that after going travelling for over two years in Europe, I got a “safe” tan from living abroad for so long (by “safe” I mean by using a high factor sunscreen).
Once I got back home (to Scotland) I decided to just top up with fake tan/gradual tan. I then found that I didn’t want to put my “full” make-up on (full make-up meaning foundation). I found that I was happy with the look that I had. I felt confident going out without wearing my full make-up. The safe tan had helped with the different colours of skin tones that I had, made them look more even.
I now find that I really only wear my full make-up if I am going to something special.
If I am going out of an evening, say to the pub, I don’t put my full face on. I still wear eye shadow, etc., but now feel that I don’t have to cover-up my scars as much as I used to.
It has actually given me more confidence. The very opposite of what I felt years ago! Weird!
I love make-up and always have (even before I was burned).
Therefore, I am not saying that I will never use my camouflage make-up, I am just saying that I have managed to achieve confidence without it and feel that I now have a choice of what “look” to go for.
This second photo shows the different skin tones; especially the quite prominent white skin graft under my eye.
I think between the two photos, it clearly shows the difference a “safe tan” can make; it certainly has to my skin tones.
I will talk later about different products if you feel that you would like to try a fake tan or a gradual tan product but I certainly would recommend them.
Just a little reminder; please be VERY safe when out in the sun; use a high SPF. Make sure that your skin is fully healed. If in any doubt, consult with your Health Practitioner.
