The next story I am going to tell you is a little funny story. It happened when Chris and I were on our travels.
We came out of a train station and we were in great spirits, having arrived somewhere new. There was a young man sitting on a bench outside the train station and as we passed him, he looked at me, kept looking at me, and still kept looking at me as we passed him.
As I said, we were in great spirits, so I went over and stood in front of him. I started waving, with a massive smile on my face. He had no idea where to look. I still stood there waving, while he was getting increasingly more and more uncomfortable. I stood there until he eventually smiled and waved back. I then walked away smiling and I left him smiling too.
I didn’t want to make him feel bad, I just wanted him to know that I had noticed him and that what he had done was not acceptable to me.
A smile can go a long way and instead of shouting at him or asking why he was staring; I decided to spread a little love.
I hope he thought better of it the next time he decided to stare at someone or in fact, I hope more, that I taught him that it is better to smile and say “hi” to someone, rather than to stare at them.
