Hi, you are “face to face with Shell”.
MESSAGE OF HOPE FROM A BURN SURVIVOR
As the anniversary of my “accident” approaches (22 June) I felt that I wanted to do a video on this subject and write a short message of hope to you.
I now call 22 June 1984 as; THE DAY I DIDN’T DIE (this saying was given to me whilst with some really great friends).
Please watch the video below and read on for more of the story:
I am now 36 years into my journey as a burn survivor (this being 2020). As said in previous videos, with the help from my husband, Chris, I have been able to revisit the place where the explosion happened (Brava Park apartments, Lloret de Mar, Spain) and have come to love the town where my life changed forever…Lloret de Mar.
If you have not already seen the page/video relating to this, please click on the link below; it shows that it can be done, you can overcome. There are pictures of me outside and inside of the apartments where the explosion took place:

Also, if you haven’t read/seen “My Story”, please also click on the link below, it gives a detailed account of 22 June 1984:
It wasn’t always like this; I used to dread this date, the day that I was 50 percent burned, the day my cousin received 75 percent burns, the day that we were disfigured for life, the day my gran and her friend died…BUT WE SURVIVED! For that, I am truly thankful.
In the past, on the anniversary, I would be sad, thinking of those we lost and what happened to us. I would play it over in my mind and let it take over my whole day. I know that this is a natural part of the healing process.
Please believe me that it does get easier. I know, I bet you are thinking that everyone says that but it DOES. The old saying that time is a great healer. Let the healing process take place, believing that it does get better.
If you are at the start of your journey, I am trying to bring a message of hope to you, in that things do get better, it all takes time, so please do not be hard on yourself if you feel that you are nowhere near that stage.
Below is another video that I recorded, the day after “Burns Night”, please have a look:

I have recorded another video on the anniversary of the explosion, as I had been talking to burn survivors and one was at the start of their journey, and was asking what they should do on the day that their burn injury occurred? As I have said before; in the past, I would let it take over my whole day but not now. Please watch the video below:
There is one more video that I recorded around the anniversary of the explosion; please have a look below:
